When I Look At This...

There are benefits to living in the city. OK, the city where I live has less than 20,000 people. It's probably not considered a city to many of you, but it's my little metropolis.

Grocery stores, gas stations, and my beloved downtown are are just a hop, skip, and jump from my house. The children's schools are ridiculously close to home. If I leave the house by 7:37, they will make it inside before the 7:45 bell.

When I run out of milk, I can drive to Publix, buy the milk, and be home within a matter of minutes. When I call the girls' schools, the secretary knows who I am and who my children are. This area rarely experiences violent crime. Most crimes are alcohol related...like public intoxication or DUI. The arrest report runs in the newspaper everyday, so you can see who got arrested and for what offense. Even the hospital admissions and discharges are in the paper every day. It's comforting to know all of your neighbors or at least know a good bit about them. There is a church on every block. Seriously, they don't call this the Bible belt for no reason. When a member of our community is diagnosed with cancer, fundraisers are thrown and pancake breakfasts happen within weeks.Yes, there are many benefits to living within a mile of the interstate and two major four lane highways.

BUT...

When I look at pictures from the farm, I want to move there.
