Smile...Though Your Heart Might Be Breaking...

The past several days have been very emotional for all of us in Alabama. Our world has changed. Friends and relatives are cleaning up debris. The night sky has been more beautiful than ever because of the massive power loss. The weather has been wonderful the last few days. Sunny. Warm. It's a drastic contrast to the emotions that our community has been feeling.

TV stations and radio stations have been airing 24 hour coverage of relief efforts, locations to find generators, where to find gas, and updates on the death toll. In spite of the constant reminders of what happened here a few days ago, my children are happy. So very happy. It is such a blessing to see their smiling faces.

Earlier this morning I had the opportunity to speak with two children whose home is gone. The oldest one said to me, "I guess I will get to pick out a new cell phone and DS. I'm looking for the bright side." One item in their house that was virtually untouched by the storm was a platter. On the platter was a scripture. We will serve the Lord. I found it so incredibly touching that this teenager was looking for the bright side. Even though he must be heartbroken that his home is gone and his possessions are gone, he was smiling and having fellowship with others.
