To some people swimming lessons are a waste of time and money. The hubs never had swimming lessons as a child, but he taught himself to swim. My mother didn't have swimming lessons either; she couldn't swim her way out of a bathtub. I think it mostly depends on the person as to whether or not swimming is easy to learn. I did learn to swim as a child from a lovely lady who lived across town, and I just thought it would be a good idea for my children to have swimming lessons. Soooo, they have each had a week of lessons every Summer for years. The best part about it is seeing them become so confident in the water. Just watch little Layton jump in the pool!
On your mark...
Get Set...
Go...Go...
Go....Go...You can do it...
He Went...
Splish...
Splash....
Doesn't that look like fun!?!?!?!?!
Let me just go ahead and add that when I was a child and my family went to the beach, I regularly swam out to the sand bar. Mostly it was after doing or saying something obnoxious. Even as a child, I realized that if I got deep enough in the water, my mother couldn't get me to spank me for whatever heinous thing I had just done to my baby sister. The moral of the story is don't let your children develop more life skills than you.
