Let's Talk about Grease, Baby...

The Athens Grease Festival.

Several months ago, I was honored to be asked to be a part of the steering committee for the Athens Grease Festival. This event was a lot of work, but it turned out so wonderful. The festival was all about fried food, and we played on our town's name for much of the theme. There were Greek decorations and togas galore.

I am going to devote several posts this week to the festival. I took sooooooo many pictures. We had a variety of vendors who were selling everything you can imagine. Just take a look at some of our vendors...

I never got a chance to try the fried candy corn. They were out every time I went by! I guess that's a good thing. Everyone who did get a taste said it was really good!

These ladies had the cutest booth. Even their aprons coordinated with their decorations! They had fried hotdogs with Greek toppings.

It's just not a fried food festival without plenty of fried funnel cake.

This lady was so adorable! She represents the Donnell House here in Athens and was selling fried pies as a fundraiser. I loved her balloons. No one else had balloons. :)

There were rows of craft vendors as well. Everything from homemade soap to Thirty-One was being sold up and down the streets of Athens.

Check out these adorable bags.

Last but certainly not least.

My favorite toga of the day. How can you go wrong with hounds tooth and a bow tie?

Still more to come....taste testing contest...a rocking stage...togas...and melted faces...
